A PUB  in Wareham is looking for a local cause to support during an event they are hosting to celebrate their relaunch.

The Sandford, which has been taken over by Jamie Perry and his partner, Zanda Birne, and Mark Windsor, will be re-opening this Friday, October 17, and will host a party in November to mark the occasion.

Jamie said that they would like to donate a percentage of the funds from the ticket sales to a charity or cause from the Wareham and Sandford area and are asking for nominations.

He said: “We’re going to have an evening of entertainment, perhaps with a raffle and we wanted to donate some of the money to a charity from this area, or even perhaps send a poorly child and their family on a trip out for the day.

“We just want to give back as part of our work to bring back the community feel to The Sandford.”

Jamie says that the pub and restaurant has gone through refurbishments over the past six weeks and is looking forward to welcoming local people back in for drinks or a meal.

“Before, the decoration was really dated, but now it has nice new dark oak and parquet flooring, a snug where customers can enjoy a drink at the bar and a modern restaurant area.”

Jamie himself hails from working as the executive chef of the Royal Bath Hotel and also the Hallmark Hotel, in Bournemouth, while his partner, Zanda, was front of house manager at the Harbour Heights Hotel in Sandbanks.

“The Sandford also now has a community room, which we are hoping local craft sellers and food producers will use.”
