TICKETS have sold out for the Swanage Community Hospital pantomime which goes on show this Friday, October 17.

Entitled, Swanella, the story behind the performance is described as a mixture of Aladdin, Cinderella and a bad, comedy version of Holby City, starting at 7.30pm at the Mowlem Theatre.

Pete Lacey, Nurse Practitioner at the hospital, on Queens Road, says that staff have never done anything like this before.

He said: “One of my colleagues wanted to do something different and so the idea of a pantomime was suggested.

“We have around 120 members of staff at the hospital and around a third of those are involved in the show, which will feature singing, dancing and some jokes.”

Pete said that all money from the event will go to The League of Friends for Swanage Hospital, who will save the funds to go towards equipment or staff courses which may be needed in the future.

“We have been rehearsing three nights a week for Swanella and have all made our own costumes.”

Pete added that it will be great to do the show just a few days after hearing that the hospital will not close, as announced by Ron Shields, chief executive of Dorset HealthCare, at the AGM of The League of Friends for Swanage Hospital.
