Stoke supremo Pulis and ex-Saints boss Souness set to join Sandbanks bunch

WHEN it comes to buying a house, the Sandbanks area is still top of the league for football managers.

Two of the top names in the game are set to become near-neighbours of Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has just settled on his expensive new signing – a £4.2m mansion overlooking Poole Harbour.

And former Liverpool and Southampton boss Graeme Souness is on the verge of completing a £4.8m deal for another luxury pad.

Mr Pulis, a former Cherries player and manager, has splashed out on one of the most palatial properties in the area.

The huge home in Lilliput, set over several floors, has panoramic views of the harbour.

Its previous owners have included Paul Briant, former boss of Land of Leather.

Just down the road, Mr Souness will also enjoy stunning harbour views from his luxury house.

One of the so-called “superhomes” fashioned by Seven Developments, the property contains five en suite bedrooms and a cinema.

Mr Pulis spent five years at Dean Court in total.

He took over the manager’s role from Mr Redknapp in 1992 and spent two seasons in charge at Dean Court.

He later went on to manage Portsmouth.

The 52-year-old has since presided over Stoke’s ascent to the Premiership, guiding them to a mid-table finish last year and this season’s FA Cup quarter-finals.

Mr Souness’s last manager’s job was at Newcastle in 2006, but he is regularly linked with any vacant post that comes up.

He was also rumoured to be lining up a takeover bid for Southampton three years ago.

Either of them want to invest in the Cherries?

I think that Mr Pulis knows that he'll probably only get one more season at Stoke before they either get relegated or he has a dust-up with someone and gets the sack!

This is an excellent post and I agree with every word.

Pulis was/is a useless manager who was involved in an alleged assault on a previous AFCB player. He was a thug as a player who just enjoyed kicking people off the pitch. He is only succeeding at Stoke because he has Peter Reid & Gerry Francis helping out. Otherwise the Stoke fans would be suffering from ricked necks watching the ball in the sky most of the time. He was hated at Pompey & Gillingham. He has milked football for all its worth and its clubs like AFCB who are now suffering from the repercussions. I hope his enjoys his new home (not)

Does the echo have no idea of geography? Both these houses are in Lilliptut, as they state in the article, NOT sandbanks. Come on, stop trying to grap headlines just by thgrowing in the word 'sandbanks'.

I think football's one of the most boring games there is (and the reluctance to change rules to improve it shows the stupidity of the people 'running' the game). However, you can't blame the players and managers for making lots of money. They take what they're given because the public put so much money into the sport through TV deals and buying merchandise and attending games. Fans give their approval to a team by buying tickets and sitting through adverts during the TV coverage and until they boycott it, then the process will go on.

...A useless player?....that is an insane comment!...he was a key player in our survival during our first year in the old first division....anyone who slates his playing ability doesn't know jack about football....he is exactly the type of player that we could do with now to help us get promoted....

Tony Pulis was a fantastic player for AFCB, strong physically and mentally. The rock around which the 1986/87 Championship (and points record) winning team was built and a major factor in retaining our old Div 2 (now Championship) place. Also has done incredibly well at Stoke. When manager at Bournemouth he also kept us in Div 1 despite having to sell all the best players. Top Man.

One last point, if you have more money than you could possibly spend in your lifetime why dont you give some of it to the working class that you obviously love so much?
Or has the old "Red Flag" song come the full circle.
You know how it goes.
"The working class can kiss my a**, I've got the foremans job at last!".
Good for you.

Here's some free advice, contric..
Do you notice that when you speak, you tend to group words together into meaningful sequences that are often of a format whereby a subject - you, the game of football, someone else, for instance, is spoken about has having done something, operating in a certain way, or having certain characteristics ?
e.g. "Jack went to the shop."
Jack here, is the 'subject', and "went to the shop" is the 'predicate'.
It is, as many people like say - a complete 'sentence'.
Languages, including English, use sentences to break up large ideas into manageable pieces and to aid clarity given the fairly strict rules of word order (of which I see you have a have a firm understanding) that exist.
When writing, to indicate a sentence, simply make the first letter of the first word a 'capital', or uppercase (an old printing term) letter, and at the end of the sentence, simply put a small dot.
