A SUSPECTED arsonist set six cars ablaze in Lytchett Matravers in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called by the fire service at around 1.15am after crews were called to a car blaze in the High Street.
It was later discovered that two vehicles had been badly damaged by fire. A third also sustained some damage.
Officers then discovered that another vehicle in the High Street and one in Hannams Close were also targeted.
The fires were started deliberately, it is believed.
PC Kristian Budden, of Purbeck police, said: “We understand these incidents have caused concern for residents and we are making a number of enquiries to establish what happened."
Officers from the area's neighbourhood policing team are increasing their patrols in the area. Residents are invited to talk to them about any concerns.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police via dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting 55180095583.
