THE Post Office in Broadstone looks set to relocate from its temporary location to a purpose-built unit.

Due to the redevelopment of the premises, the facility moved from 14 Dunyeats Road to the temporary base, to maintain service to the area.

Now, with the postmaster’s agreement the plan is to move the branch to newly built premises at 6 Dunyeats Road, where services could be provided from five serving positions - a mixture of two screened, two open plan and a Post Office serving point for use at the retail counter.

The new opening hours would be Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm and Saturday, 9am to 1pm - earlier weekday opening than currently.

Area network change manager Marie Tighe said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

"We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a public consultation, which runs until May 29.
