A LITTLE boy who died after a collision involving a Sainsbury's lorry suffered multiple chest and abdominal injuries, a coroner has heard.

Jaiden John Mangan died in hospital following a collision at a pedestrian crossing in North Street, Wareham shortly before 8.45am on March 29.

The boy, who lived with his family in Nundico, Wareham, died the day before his fourth birthday.

The driver of the lorry, a 43-year-old man from Basingstoke, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

On Wednesday afternoon, an inquest into Jaiden's death was opened and adjourned pending a full hearing.

Senior coroner for Dorset Rachael Griffin signed papers releasing Jaiden's body to his family for the funeral.

"I request an update from police in relation to their enquiries within four weeks," she said.

A pre-inquest review will take place at Bournemouth Town Hall on July 6.
