A POPULAR series of dementia-friendly film screenings continues this spring and summer at Lighthouse in Poole.

Although not exclusively for people with dementia, the screenings are particularly suitable for those affected by the condition, their partners and family members, as well as the people who care for them professionally.

The screenings allow for audience members to talk, move around or leave the cinema and the volume is reduced slightly, cinema house lights are left on low so that people can see to move around and staff are on hand to assist.

The line-up includes the Fred Astaire-Judy Garland classic Easter Parade on March 28 followed by Ealing Comedy The Lavender Hill Mob on April 25.

On May 30 you can enjoy the animated Disney feature film Fantasia, and Doris Day and David Niven in Please Don’t Eat the Daisies on June 27. Later in the summer screenings include Rex Harrison in the 1967 version of Doctor Dolittle on July 25 and Mamma Mia, the musical romantic comedy based on the songs of ABBA on August 29.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Lighthouse Ticket Office on 01202 280000 or online at lighthousepoole.co.uk.
