Summer is the perfect time to make the most of the great outdoors and if you fancy watching a film under the stars, you're spoilt for choice.

National Trust outdoor cinema event Stars at the Beach will be coming to Studland Bay as part of Purbeck Film Festival. Priscilla Queen of the Desert will be shown after a fish and chip supper from 7.15pm until 10.30pm on Saturday, August 12. To book, call 01929 450500.

Cult Screens returns to the Walled Garden at Upton Country Park with three films to choose from. The cinema offers a range of ticket choices, from bring your own seat, to a choice of comfy options including deckchairs, single bean bags and double bean bags to cuddle up on. Take your pick from Jurassic Park (PG) on Thursday, August 31, Top Gun (12A) on Friday, September 1 and La La Land (12A) on Saturday, September 2.

Outdoor cinema makes a return to Lulworth Castle this summer. As part of the Luna Cinema programme, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is showing on Wednesday, August 16 and Jaws is showing on Thursday, August 17.

Luna cinema will also be coming to Bournemouth Pier next month. The first film to be shown will be the Oscar-nominated musical drama La La Land on Friday, August 18. On Saturday, August 19, Notting Hill will be shown.

And on Sunday, August 20, it will be adventure comedy The Goonies. Doors will open at 6.45pm for the 8.15pm showings at the two venues. Cinema-goers will need to take something to sit on and wear suitable clothing.

Online marketplace notonthehighstreet.com will also be handing out surprise treats to lucky cinema goers during the screenings at Pier Approach. 

The event will go ahead in the event of bad weather.

For Pier Approach, tickets are £15 for general admission, £10 for children aged 3 to 15 years, and £7.50 for disabled and carers.

Group tickets are also available for parties of ten or more at £14 per person.

For Lulworth Castle, general admission tickets cost £14.50, £9.50 for children, £7.25 for disabled and carers, and £13.50 for group admission.
