WETHERSPOONS has submitted plans to open its first hotel in Poole as part of one of its existing pubs.
The pub giant already has 40 hotels with 900 rooms across the UK but this will be its first in the conurbation if plans are approved by Borough of Poole.
A change of use application has been submitted to the council to build 14 hotel rooms on the second floor of The Lord Wimborne pub in Laglands Road.
They will be a mixture of twin, double and family rooms.
According to JD Wetherspoons the pub and upper ground floors will be unaffected by the proposals - but there are plans to refurbish the outside garden area,
Developers say that the creation of hotel rooms will "benefit tourism and commerce" within Poole while making use of an unused area in the building.
The nearest existing Wetherspoons pubs with hotel rooms are in Bridport, Salisbury and Warminster.
