SIX fire engines were called to tackle a blaze at a derelict building in Poole.

Crews were called to St John's House in Serpentine Road around 5.30pm today.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said a fire was located on the third floor of the building.

"Two male casualties are being treated for shock and smoke inhalation by paramedics.

"It is believed the fire is now out but as the building is known as somewhere used by rough sleepers crews are still on scene searching the building," added the spokesman.

Six appliances and the aerial ladder platform attended the incident. Paramedics were also sent to the scene.

The St John's House office block in Serpentine Road has been vacant for more than two years after Borough of Poole's (BOP) transportation services moved back to the Civic Centre.
