AN INDOOR trampoline park could open near Tower Park in Poole if councillors back new plans.

Bosses at Jump In! are due to submit proposals to the council that will see a site close to Homebase transformed into a huge entertainment centre.

Robin Henderson, senior associate planning consultant for Ken Parke Planning Consultants, said in a letter to councillors and officers at Poole: "I consider that the proposed trampoline park will be a real asset for the Borough of Poole, providing a fantastic resource for health, recreation and training for residents and visitors alike, whilst also enhancing the employment density of the site."

The location, Horizon Park, is currently authorised to be developed with a building to be used as a warehouse.

An application will be made for a change of use in the coming weeks.

Mr Henderson said: "While I am aware of planning policies that favour industrial uses in this location, I am confident that on balance the council will agree that the benefits, which include a significantly higher number of jobs on the site, would accord with the overall ambitions - social, economic and environmental - of the development plan."

If councillors approve the plans, the park will feature around 100 trampolines, including open jump, dodgeball, basketball and tumbletracks facilities.

There will also be an eight-lane foam pint, as well as a dedicated area for children under the age of five.

The Horizon Park building comprises 24,811 square feet, of which 22,066 sq ft is warehouse space.

Between 65 and 70 young people will be trained and employed at the facility.

Newtown ward councillor Malcolm Farrell said: "I think this scheme looks very exciting.

"It could well be something that the residents of Poole, and in particular Newtown, would like to have.

"Based on the details that have been provided so far, it looks really good.

"It's an exciting project and something that young people would really enjoy."

Jump In! already has facilities in Warwick, Enfield, Tonbridge and Slough.
