POLICE have arrested a teenage boy after a man was threatened with a gun during an attempted robbery.

It happened at a residential property off Ringwood Road in Three Legged Cross at around 8.40am on Monday according to Dorset Police.

Nothing was stolen and nobody was injured.

Following enquiries, a 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

A spokesperson for the force continued: "Officers attended an address in Benbow Crescent in Poole at around midday today to conduct further arrest enquiries in connection with the incident.

"No other arrests have been made."

Residents of Benbow Crescent reported seeing a number of police cars and armed officers arriving at around midday.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said: “I just asked if it was anything to be concerned about but we were told we were completely safe.”

Another resident, Stephanie Hanson, said: “My partner called me and said they turned up around 11am.

“He said they were looking in some bushes. They were looking for something; no one was in there.

“One of the policemen had a big gun but they said there was nothing to worry about.

“But they wouldn't even let one man go down the road. They made him wait, he had shopping and everything but they had to wait for some update before they would let him down there or something. They were here for quite a while.”

Several police vehicles – including armed officers – were seen assessing the area at the junction of Benbow Crescent and Raleigh Road for nearly three hours. While some officers knocked on doors and spoke to residents on their doorsteps, others were seen investigating bushes.

A recovery flatbed van was called to retrieve a car of interest to the police – a silver Subaru estate. Officers placed items from the car into an evidence bag, before the car was put onto the recovery van and taken from Raleigh Road.
