A FEMALE pedestrian has been taken to hospital after she was involved in a crash with a car in Ashley Road.

Police and ambulance were called to the scene just before 3.20pm.

Ashley Road was shut both ways at the junction of Salisbury Road, but re-opened at around 5pm.

Police say the pedestrian has been taken to hospital for a check-up, and she is not thought to be in a life-threatening condition.

A black Volkswagen Golf was also involved in the crash, which happened near to St John's Heatherlands Parish Church.

Nobody else is believed to have been injured.

A diversion was in place at Waitrose, Mansfield Road, and Victoria Road, a spokesperson for Dorset Police confirmed.
