TWO people were rescued by lifeboat volunteers after getting stuck in the mud during a rising tide.
Poole Inshore Lifeboat were called into action at 8.20pm on Sunday to look for the two youths who had been fishing at the back of Upton House at Pergins Island.
Pete Probut, a Poole lifeboat volunteer, said the youngsters had set out when there was low water, but as the tide turned, the water started rising, leaving them cut off and stuck in mud and water.
They were found near to the railway bridge at Holes Bay and described as 'wet, cold and beginning to get worried' when the lifeboat arrived on scene.
Crew members took them on board and checked they were okay before they were taken back to the lifeboat station.
Mr Probut added: "The youths just got caught out. It was one of those things that when darkness fell, they could not find their way back and the water was rising, We have advised them to check the tides before venturing out in the future and gave them some safety advice."
He went on to say that high tide was due at 11.30pm on Sunday evening. The lifeboat was ready for service by 10.15pm.
