A lorry driver who ignored the narrow road signs at Gravel Hill has got stuck on a bend.

A call was made to Dorset Police at 11.27am with reports of a lorry blocking traffic at the junction with Arrowsmith Road in Wimborne, which is the diversion route for motorists during the current stage of the works on Gravel Hill. 

A spokesperson for Borough of Poole said that an HGV had travelled down Arrowsmith Road, which is the designated diversion route for the Gravel Hill works, past signs that warned that the route was too narrows for heavy goods vehicles.

They confirmed that it was not one of the vehicles and the lorry is currently stuck on a bend.

Traffic was also delayed going through Poole town centre due to a one-car crash this morning.

Police were called at 10.19am with reports of the incident outside The George pub on High Street North close to the Dolphin Shopping Centre on The George Roundabout.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said that part of the road was blocked in both ways in the direction of Poole Hospital as a result.

Nobody was hurt as a result of the incident. More bus company tweeted at 11.37am to say that services which would normally travel along Longfleet Road were temporarily directed to go via Mount Pleasant Road and Parkstone Road.

Police were also called after a tree came down across Moore Avenue in West Howe this morning.

It was reported to Dorset Police just before 9.05am and the local authorities were contacted to remove the tree, which had caused traffic delays.
