PARAMEDICS were called to a crash involving a car and a motorbike at Wallisdown.

Police were also alerted to the collision, which occurred just before 6.15pm outside Discovery Court on Wallisdown Road.

A spokesperson for the South West Ambulance Service said they were called at 6.11pm after both a man and woman riding a motorbike sustained ankle injuries in the collision.

The driver of the Citroen was not injured.

“We sent a rapid response vehicle and one crew and both the male and female were conveyed to hospital,” she said, adding that it was not clear which of the riders required further treatment, only that they travelled in the ambulance together.

Neither were considered to have been seriously injuried.

A local employee, who did not wish to be named, said earlier: “Traffic is backed up in both directions, and drivers are taking it in turns to pass the scene."

Police closed the road in one direction.
