COASTGUARD and RNLI have been called to search for a missing windsurfer around Poole Marina.
According to a spokesman from the RNLI, windsurfing equipment was found on the water around 6pm on Tuesday evening.
"The equipmet was reported at the entrance to Salterns Marina," she added.
"There was no-one with the equipment and, as a result, an extensive search has been launched for the missing windsurfer.
"It could be nothing untoward and the person who owns the equipment could be fine, but we don't know - that's why a search has been launched.
"Both Poole lifeboats have been launched as has the Coastguard helicopter and two Coastguard units from Southbourne and Poole."
As of 10pm nothing untoward had been found.
The RNLI spokesman confirmed that enquiries were ongoing and that it was currently a search with good intent.
"The only thing we would ask is if people could put some form of identification on equipment such as a phone number or a postcode," she added.
