DOGS and their owners are invited to the Great Poole Dog Walk at Upton Country Park tomorrow.

The charity walk along the park’s new trails will be led by the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Xena Dion and her Akita dog Diesel.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the mayor’s charities including Waggy Tails Rescue, Lewis Manning Hospice, and Chestnut Nursery.

Children taking part will have a chance of winning prizes for the ‘Find Fido’ challenge. For canine companions, there will be a free doggy goody bag for every dog.

Cllr Dion said: “It’s the first big community dog walk we have had in Poole, and it’s all about getting families out there enjoying the outdoors.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to raise money for important charities and walk your dog at the same time.

“I am really pleased that people will be able to get a better understanding of the environment they are walking in from Dorset Wildlife Trust and the Urban Heath Partnership who have really good interactive ways to provide interesting information and give people ideas about what to look out for on the walk.

“I hope as many people can join us and that we can build on this year on year to become the biggest community dog walk in the area,” she added.

To take part, register for £5 at the Education Centre between 10am and 11am on Sunday.
