A POPULAR Poole café is applying for an alcohol licence from 8am to midnight - despite the cafe currently only being open until 2.30pm.

The Full Monty Cafe in Blandford Road, Hamworthy, has applied to the Borough of Poole for a licence to cover the sale of alcohol Monday to Sunday from 8am to midnight.

The cafe, which only opened in February this year, has become a popular breakfast spot in the town but there is also a lunch menu available.

It is currently open from 7am to 2.30pm every day - but the owners are considering extending the opening hours.

A spokesman from the cafe said: "We are currently looking at opening a bit later in the summer.

"The plan is to try and organise a curry night or a steak night at the cafe.

"We definitely don't want it to become a boozy establishment, we just want to allow our customers the opportunity to have a glass of wine or beer with their meal.

"The cafe only opened a few months ago and this is just one of the ways we are looking at growing and improving as a business."

According to the spokesman the cafe is quite a "small establishment" so probably wouldn't be able to facilitate a full bar but it would be more likely that wine, beer and cider would be available.

Anyone who wants to comment on the application should email environment@poole.gov.uk before June 28.
