POLICE pulled over a bus in Upton this afternoon following reports of a concern for welfare for a teenage boy.

Dorset Police were called at 12.44pm following reports that a 17-year-old had left an address in Poole in a distressed state.

Officers attended and, assisted by the NPAS helicopter, carried out a search of the area.

It was discovered that the boy had boarded the number 40 bus, which travels from Swanage to Poole.

According to a Morebus spokesman the bus was stopped by police in Poole Road in Upton, outside the Co-op.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Officers stopped the bus to speak to the boy.

“He was taken to Poole Hospital as a precaution and to be given appropriate care. He was uninjured.”

Morebus arranged for a replacement bus to be sent to Poole Road to continue the service to Poole.
