SOME residents in the Ringwood Road area of Poole lost their power supply for more than 36 hours, it has emerged.

Energy giant Southern Electric Power Distribution has apologised to customers for the outage, which first occurred on Wednesday evening, around 9.30pm, and affected 75 homes.

The blackout was caused by a faulty transformer, so engineers brought in mobile generators and got the power back on in stages. According to the power company everyone was back on by 9.30pm on Thursday.

However, two separate faults relating to the mobile generators, caused subsequent power cuts into Friday morning.

Speaking to the Echo on Friday, a company spokesman explained: "The power went off on Thursday night at 10:20pm, and following the installation of a new generator, it came back on this morning at 8.45am.

"A further fault developed around 45 minutes later and we currently have engineers on site working to establish the cause of the problem.

"We have a team of customer community advisors on site and we would like to assure our customers that we are doing everything we can to get their power back on."

Only two customers remained without power yesterday afternoon.
