More than 4,000 people voted for up to 150 marinas during this year's London Boat Show, which took place earlier this month.

Poole Quay Boat Haven marina manager John Binder said: "We are delighted to receive such a prestigious award.

"Being nominated by our customers is such a special achievement and we are extremely grateful for their ongoing support."

After collating the public votes, contest finalists were determined by a panel of independent judges - who decided the winners solely on customer feedback.

The Poole Quay Boat Haven, operated by Poole Harbour Commissioners, was recognised as a marina with under 250 berths with the UK Coastal Marina Award.

Mr Binder said: "This award is testament to the dedication and hard work of my team. We're looking forward to the 2016 boating season and welcoming both existing and new customers to enjoy the facilities at the marina."

Poole Boat Haven is set to host the second annual Poole Harbour Boat Show this May.

Hundreds of exhibitors are set to descend on the marina from May 20-22, where the latest motor boats, yachts and RIBs will be showcased.

Commenting on the latest award for the Poole Boat Haven, Borough of Poole economy cabinet member Cllr Mohan Iyengar told the Daily Echo: "This is excellent news for Poole Quay Boat Haven and for our town as a whole.

"The award demonstrates that our residents and visitors from around the country value what the haven provides.

"My congratulations to everyone involved for their well deserved success."
