PASSERS-BY gave chase after a motorcyclist knocked down a 13-year-old boy and drove off.

The teenager suffered injuries to his torso, arm and leg after he was knocked off his bike in Methuen Road in Poole at 4.25pm on Thursday.

An ambulance was called to the scene and the boy was treated by paramedics.

The driver of the motorbike did not stop but drove off towards Canford Heath.

A Dorset police spokesman said officers are now asking for any witnesses to get in touch to help them with their investigation. The motorcycle failed to stop at the scene following the collision.

Police Constable Andrea Grant, of Poole police, said: “The boy was obviously very shaken by the incident and suffered injuries. I am asking anyone who may be able to identify the rider of the motorcycle to get in touch with me on 101.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or manner of driving of the motorcyclist before the incident to contact me.

“I would also appeal directly to the motorcyclist to do the right thing and come forward.”

One passer-by issued an appeal on the Dorset Dog Rescue Facebook page to help track down the culprit.

The post read: “I have just witnessed the human race at its worst.

“Coming out onto the main road and a motorbike knocked a boy of his bike and drove off and left him in road.

“The young lad was crossing with his bike and the motorbike ploughed straight into him and left him.

“Two amazing guys gave chase while we picked the lad up with two nurses. The little boy was in a state.

“Please help find who knocked this lad of his bike and left him.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 21:251.
