POOLE Park's unique photo mosaic has been backed by the town's MP and Conservative councillors who turned out with their fivers to sign up.

It's not too late to take part in the project which is part of the £2.7million bid for Poole Park Heritage Lottery funding and runs until the end of the year.

"I am delighted to take part in this fantastic project," said Poole MP Robert Syms. It is a joint scheme between the Poole Park Heritage Groups and Poole Park Life Team which will result in an art mosaic featuring the people of Poole set in the shape of the Victorian layout of the park.

"The great thing about this project is that everyone can be involved," said Robert. "All you have to do is upload a photo of yourself, your family, your friends or even your pets for £5 and become part of a stunning, creative legacy that will be a landmark in Poole Park for years to come and which also celebrates the 125th birthday of this, our town park.

"Many local businesses have shown their support by becoming sponsors and local groups and charities can continue to apply to upload large numbers of photographs at a much reduced rate. Everyone can therefore be included and I hope that they will take this unique opportunity to do so."

Every £5 paid will help unlock up to £50 in match funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and a special gift voucher is available for Christmas gifts, valid until January 31 2016.

"To me this is a win-win project where local people have an opportunity to be part of a stunning, creative legacy whilst raising vital funds needed for restoration," said the MP.

"Let us show that we value this special open space provided for ourselves and our children as much as the Victorians who built it did and have as much pride in it."
