CASH-STRAPPED students are in line for a one-off shopping experience in Poole offering exclusive discounts and giveaways.

Crowds of student shoppers are hoping to grab a bargain at the Dolphin Shopping Centre's special student event on Monday September 28.

For one night only, the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole will open its door after hours for college and university students to enjoy exclusive discounts of up to 20 per cent off in stores including New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Burton and Miss Selfridge.

For the last two years the event has proved to be hugely popular with retailers enjoying a record-breaking night of sales, as students queued outside the shopping centre to get in and shop until they drop.

The first night of retail therapy two years ago attracted more than 2,000 shoppers with store tills in overdrive as they reported taking up to half their usual day's takings in the first hour.

Centre manager John Grinnell said the previous student events were a great success and the perfect platform to remind everyone to shop in Poole.

“Our student shopping event is a fantastic evening with a great atmosphere," he said. "The night highlights how students of Poole and Bournemouth have what it takes to be top of the style stakes and these discounts are the perfect opportunity for us to showcase the retailers’ latest trends and great prices.”

Along with giveaways and competitions to keep students entertained, DJs from Fire Radio will be on the decks.

Student Shopping UK, which organises the night, works with universities across the country and is well known for putting on an enjoyable and successful event.

It starts at 6.30pm and is free to everyone who can show a valid student ID. However students can pre-register online for a wristband and save waiting in the queues, visit studentshoppinguk.com/events/poole.
