A high tide flood alert is in place for Poole and Wareham this evening.

The Environment Agency says there is a risk of flood for two hurs after high tide, at 10.30pm this evening.

High water this evening is expected to be 2.60m - both a spring tide and a so-called "super tide".

The warning covers Wareham, Upton, Sandbanks, Brownsea Island, Stoborough and Lytchett Minster.

This year has already seen four "supertides" - where an unusual conjunction of the sun, moon and Earth occuring every 15 years means the gravitational pull on oceans will be greater than normal.

Tonight's will be the fifth, with the final largest supertide coming on September 28, a weekend that also sees a lunar eclipse.
