Part of Poole Road was closed after a crash between a car and a motorbike near Branksome Railway Station.
Emergency services were called at 12.17pm to reports of a collision between a blue Vauxhall Corsa registered to a Poole man and a black motorcycle belonging to a man from Bournemouth.
It is not known if anybody was injured yet.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said Poole Road was closed at its junction with Redlands Roundabout. The road has now been reopened. Motorists are reporting heavy traffic both ways.
Traffic sensors are reporting congestion to the A338 Wessex Way, B3065 The Avenue, Lindsay Road, County Gates Roundabout, and to the Civic Centre junction.
M1/M2 will divert at Branksome via Bournemouth Road , St Osmunds Road, Penn Hill Avenue , Leicester Road and Lindsey Road to Westbourne 2/3
