TRAVELLERS are at a car park at Poole's waterside Baiter Park, for the second time in a month.

In July 18 caravans set up camp at Baiter and stayed until the council took legal action to evict them. Residents called at the time for measures to be taken by the council to prevent travellers from getting into the car park.

On Tuesday four caravans and two motorhomes arrived and set up camp at the Harbourside 2 car park which is directly in front of residents' homes.

Peter Haikin, regulatory services manager, Borough of Poole, said: “A small group of four caravans and two motorhomes are currently camped in Harbourside 2 Car Park at Baiter Park. Officers have visited the site to carry out the required checks and we will be starting the legal process necessary to secure eviction as soon as possible.”

Officers are also monitoring two caravans which set up camp outside the council's park and ride at Creekmoor over a week ago, having provided them with toilets.
