Little Channel running through Poole Quay into Holes Bay was closed to boats this morning after an ordnance was found in the water close to Semex yard.
Poole Harbour Commissioners put in a 100m exclusion zone around the area and called in the military bomb disposal squad who carried out a controlled explosion.
Borough of Poole’s lifting bridges across the Backwater Channel missed their 11.30am lifts during the incident. The channel has now re-opened.
