POLICE are appealing for witnesses after staff at a convenience store on Alder Road, Poole were threatened at knifepoint by two robbers this morning. 

Officers were called to the scene at 7.16am after McColls staff activated the attack alarm. 

Two men threatened staff with a knife before fleeing the scene with cash and cigarettes.

Chief Inspector Tracey Baker said: "At 7.16am officers responded to an attack alarm activation at McColls in Alder Road, Poole.

"This transpired to be a robbery by two males who threatened staff with a knife. A quantity of cash and cigarettes were stolen.

"No one was physically injured during the incident."

She added a primary investigation is still ongoing and further details would be released in due course. 

A resident, who does not want to be named, said he saw around 15 to 20 packets of cigarettes strewn across the pavement at 7.30am.

Witnesses are asked in the meantime to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting crime number 24:94 for the attention of DC 1238 Turner from Bournemouth CID.
