POLICE are appealing for information after a shoplifter threatened a Tesco worker with a knife in Poole.
Officers say a man stole a "large quantity of meat" from Tesco Express in Bournemouth Road on Friday afternoon.
When challenged by a staff member, who followed him out of the store, the thief became aggressive and "lunged" at the Tesco employee with the knife.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: “At approximately 5.15pm on Friday, May 8, a male left Tesco Express on Bournemouth Road in Poole with a large quantity of meat products he had not paid for.
“He was followed into nearby Warren Road by a male staff member who requested the return of the goods.
“When challenged the male became instantly aggressive and produced a knife. He swore at the staff member and threatened to stab him lunging at him with a knife."
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information to come forward.
The force spokesman continued: “The male is described as a white male with weathered skin and dark stubble, approximately 5’7’’ to 5’ 8’’ tall and of medium build. He is aged in his late 20s to 30s and had dark brown cropped hair.”
“He was wearing a white baseball cap and a long-sleeved white hooded top with a gold motif on the front, mid-blue jeans and trainers.”
Police say no one was injured in the incident.
