THEIR romance has always been on the cards.

For these newly-wed psychics met when husband Steve Hounsome hosted a tarot therapy course in Poole three years ago.

Clairvoyant Amy Clayton attended with a friend - and the rest, as they say, is history.

On Saturday afternoon, the couple from Parkstone were married at Poole Guildhall in front of 70 guests clad in medieval garb.

"As I said in my speech, Amy started out as the student and bagged the teacher," said Steve, 50.

"It was a wonderful wedding - we both love medieval history, and another area of our work is in past lives, so there's a real link there too. My spirit guide is a knight, so it felt very fitting to get married in a medieval style."

Steve asked Amy to marry him the day before his 50th birthday as the two walked along the beach at Sandbanks.

He said: "Amy had ordered me a sword for my birthday from a specialist place in York, but unfortunately it hadn't arrived in time.

"As we walked along, I said to her, 'It's a shame about the sword, but there is something else you could do for my birthday'. She asked what that was, and I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. The engagement ring is based on a medieval ring. It's made by a lady in New York who casts them based on an original 15th Century Italian betrothal ring."

Amy and Steve are set to go on honeymoon in historic Tintagel, Cornwall, long associated with the legend of King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table.

They will also visit the Georgian Pilgrim hotel in Glastonbury, which dates from the 1430s, and is said to be haunted.

Amy, 47, said she is likely to have a restless night in Somerset as she hears the voices of spirits.

"For the first seven years of my life, I had an imaginary friend, and that friend continues to guide me today," she said.

"I started to consciously develop my psychic ability five years ago, and I briefly studied tarot. A friend of mine really wanted to go to a tarot therapy course, but I wasn't too sure as I'm more interested in clairvoyance. But she kept on asking me, and so I decided I'd do it. I went on the course and bagged the teacher!"

She added: "We work superbly together.

"We really compliment each other. It seems so natural to be together."
