CIVIC officials are set to go to court on Wednesday in a bid to remove an unauthorised traveller encampment from Upton Country Park.

The three caravans that pitched up on the front lawn last week remain there today.

A Borough of Poole spokesman said: “The situation is the same and we are going to court on Wednesday to seek an eviction order.”

If the order is successfully obtained, the travellers will have just 24-hours to vacate the property owned by Borough of Poole after it is served.

A number of visitor to the park have told the Echo the intrusion has been unwelcome. Sue Redfearn, from Parkstone, said: “I think families with young children might be put off coming. – particularly if there’s more.”

Meanwhile, Borough of Poole regulatory services manager Peter Haikin, confirmed council officers have visited the encampment and that they started initial legal proceedings last week because of the sensitivity of the site.

He also explained Wednesday’s court date was the earliest the court was able to hear the case.
