TWO paddle boarders were rescued after getting into difficulty off the Poole coast yesterday evening.
The Poole RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched at 6.45pm to the aid of two paddle boarders who had ventured out from Whitecliff with the intention to paddle across the harbour to Brownsea Island.
When they found the conditions too much, they called the Coastguard for assistance as light was fading.
The lifeboat was tasked and was swiftly on scene. They found the paddle boarders, who had become very cold, just off Stakes Buoy.
The volunteers took the two casualties on board the lifeboat and back ashore at Whitecliff.
Volunteer helmsman Glen Mallen said: “There was short choppy seas and a brisk chilly easterly wind, in the harbour and when we found them they were extremely cold.”
