THE three wards at Poole Hospital infected with the highly contagious norovirus remained closed yesterday.

Following an outbreak last Thursday, members of the public continue to be asked not to visit the hospital if they or anybody in their household has suffered with diarrhoea or sickness in the last 72 hours.

A Poole Hospital spokesman said yesterday had been a ‘day of stability’ and that the situation remains unchanged from Tuesday.

Royal Bournemouth Hospital, which has also been affected by the stomach bug, confirmed there had been no change in its status either and continues to advise visitors only to enter the hospital if essential.

Norovirus can cause serious health complications for those already ill.
