THE parents of a mum-of-two from Oakdale who is battling cancer have thanked the public for their support in topping her £10,000 fundraising target.
Louise Bosley, 31, has been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called neuroendocrine carcinoma, which she is receiving chemotherapy and other treatment for.
Her mum and dad, Lorraine and Rae, decided to set up a Crowdfunder website to help their daughter pay for her travel and medical costs to hospital and appealed for the public's help in reaching the amount, which stands at £10,480.
Due to the nature of the website, which sees people pledge to give a certain amount, which is only taken from their account when the target is met, means that if they had not managed to collect £10,000, they would have lost all of the money.
Lorraine posted a message on their Crowdfunder website, which reads: "I had no doubt that we would reach it because I know you are all very special people who care enough to donate to help Louise and her family."
Events organised in aid of Louise, who is a partner to John and mum to Rachel, 12, and Rhys, nine, include a night at the dogs, sponsored swims, an evening of mediumship and a fun Thai boxing bootcamp.
Lorraine previously thanked the doctors and nurses and both Poole and Bournemouth Hospital, donations made by Bournemouth Echo readers and their family and friends.
