A YOUNG woman seriously injured in a Poole traffic collision on Wednesday had just got off a bus, it has emerged.

The 18-year-old pedestrian was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital after the accident at Poole's Civic Centre gyratory system.

Dorset Police, who are now appealing for witnesses to come forward, confirm her injuries are serious but not life threatening.

Officers say two cars were involved in the incident - a silver Mazda CX7 car and a blue Renault Scenic.

Police Constable Mike Henstridge, of Dorset Police Traffic Unit, said: “This collision happened at a busy time of the day and I know a number of people would have witnessed the incident.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the incident and has not yet spoken to the police to please call.”

The collision took place in Commercial Road, Poole, at 10.55am on Wednesday March 11.
