THE FAMILY of an Oakdale mum-of-two with cancer have just two weeks left to reach their £10,000 online fundraising target – or risk losing all the money.

Lorraine and Rae Bosley, parents to Louise Bosley, 31, who has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine carcinoma, a rare type of cancer, have until March 17 to collect another £2,500 to help fund travel costs for Louise as she has chemotherapy and other treatment.

Crowdfunder works by the creator of the page setting a target amount to raise for a project, which must be met within a set amount of time. Internet users ‘pledge’ to give a certain amount of money and only when the target is reached, do the pledgers get charged to their accounts.

Lorraine said: “I would like to say the biggest thank you possible to everybody who has supported Louise over this very difficult time. Especially the doctors and nurses at Poole and Bournemouth Hospitals, as well as the incredibly generous donations that have been made by Bournemouth Echo readers as well as family and friends.

“On Wednesday, we went to see a surgeon, Dr Pearce, at the University Hospital Southampton. He specialises in very complex surgery for Neuroendocrine Tumours.

“The long term prospect is not good and every time someone tells you that it puts a shiver up your back and we all end up in tears.”

She added that the family have been ‘overwhelmed’ by the many events held in the past few weeks to support Louise.

She said that they are fast approaching 80-per-cent of the £10,000 target which is ‘truly amazing.’ Lorraine says that Tesco at Tower Park has donated a TV and Rockley Park has donated a teddy bear which was being auctioned on Facebook.

Events organised in aid of Louise, who is mum to Rachel, 12, and Rhys, nine, include a night at the dogs, sponsored swims, an evening of mediumship and a Thai boxing bootcamp for fun.
