STAFF at a financial services company have celebrated 10 years of fundraising dedicated to the Julia’s House children’s hospice.

Teachers Assurance has raised a magnificent £10,500 for Dorset’s only hospice committed to helping children with life-limiting conditions.

The charity has grown close to the hearts of staff of the Bournemouth-based company, as they have been humbled by the passionate team of volunteers and carers who offer support to families.

Over 10 consecutive years employees have continually pledged their time and money to the cause.

In that time they have taken part in numerous fundraising events from bake sales and dress-down days to raffles and charitable clothing donations.

Last year the company’s fundraising reached new heights when more than £2,000 was raised by those taking part in the Bournemouth Marathon festival.

Laura Bentham, the PR and events team leader at Teachers Assurance, said about the anniversary: “2015 marks the 10th consecutive year that Teachers Assurance have chosen to support Julia’s House.

“When we first began supporting the charity back in 2001, Julia’s House consisted of a few dedicated carers providing home-based care.

“It has since grown into a strong team of over 70 nurses and carers, supporting around 100 children both at their Dorset hospice and at home.

“Julia’s House receives very little government funding and instead relies on vital donations from the community,” Laura added.

She continued: “It is for this reason we are immensely proud of all of our staff’s charitable endeavours and were pleased by the recent news that the charity has plans to open a second hospice in Wiltshire to extend their valuable work across the region.”
