THE friends of a woman fighting for her life after being involved in a collision with a car in Poole have started a social media campaign to support her.

Laura Watson, who works at the Fleetsbridge Tesco superstore, has been in an induced coma since the crash at Wimborne Road on February 22.

The 28-year-old had been walking to work when the incident occurred and was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with serious head and leg injuries.

Her colleagues at Tesco have launched a Facebook page called Team Laura to provide a focal point for fundraising efforts in a bid to help Laura’s family stay at her bedside.

Laura’s younger sister, Sarah, said the family have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown. “We receive messages from people every day and it is difficult to reply to every single one,” she added.

“On behalf of the family I just want to say a massive thank you for everybody’s support. We are all so grateful.”

Sandra Fisher, Laura’s colleague who started the Facebook page, said everybody at Tesco wants to do all they can to support her family.

“When she is better we want her to see how much everybody loves her,” she added.

Store manager Neil Mason said: “We were deeply saddened to learn of what happened to Laura and our thoughts are with her family and friends. The togetherness of our colleagues, in pulling together to raise money for Laura’s family and the local hospital, is important at this difficult time”.

A 25-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and released on bail until the end of April while police enquiries continue.
