A POOLE woman is completing a cycling challenge to raise money for a teen from Turlin Moor who has terminal cancer.

Olivia Russell, known as Lollie, 17, is receiving palliative care at Gully’s Place, based at Poole Hospital.

Her family has been made aware that the cancer is incurable and friends have rallied around to collect donations to make Lollie’s last few weeks as comfortable as possible.

Rebecca Way, who previously made over £3,400 from a fundraising evening in aid of Lollie Russell and the Piam Brown children’s cancer unit at Southampton General Hospital, plans to cycle over 30miles to boost funds.

She said: “Lollie is a strong fighter. She has her good days and bad days so I want to do the ride for her.

“Some of her friends have set up a Go Fund Me page, which has collected £700 so far, to help with her needs and after speaking to the family, I wanted to do something to help as well.

“As part of a group of 12 people, we are going to cycle 31.4 miles from Costa in Upton to Blandford and back on Saturday, February 7.

“Money raised will be split between Lollie and the Poole and District Children’s Cancer Fund, as the fund paid for Lollie and her family to go to Centre Parks for a break.”

Rebecca said she asked Lollie’s mum if her daughter knew what was happening and she said: “Mum, I want you to hold my hand right through to the end.”

Michelle, Lollie’s mum, said: “We are very grateful that Rebecca is doing another fundraiser for Lollie and we appreciate all her help.”
