SHOPPERS have donated almost 1,900kg of groceries to Ringwood Foodbank.
In all, 136 boxes were filled with donations from people at Tesco in Ferndown and Christchurch MP Christopher Chope went to the store to show his support.
Another collection, at Sainsbury’s in Ringwood, generated a further 283kg.
Staff at the Foodbank warehouses are now hard at work processing all the donations so it can go out to the Foodbank clients.
Like all Trussell Trust Foodbanks, Ringwood is completely dependent on the generosity and goodwill of locals to support its work giving emergency food aid to people in crisis.
A spokesman said: “The number of people using Ringwood Foodbank is increasing – 600 people have been fed in the past seven months alone.
“This is a continuing need and your continued support makes it all possible.”
