SOME people celebrate their weight loss by treating themselves to a new outfit or a dream holiday.

But Zoe Salter has taken to throwing herself out of planes, running marathons and bungee jumping.

For the daring 26-year-old receptionist, from Poole, has turned into an adrenaline junkie after shedding just under eight stone in weight.

Zoe had been having counselling for depression when she first joined her local Weight Watchers group in Hamworthy in 2011. She was suffering constant back pain and had very low self esteem.

She explains: “At first it was a little scary, but everyone was so welcoming. I learnt that what I thought was healthy wasn’t necessarily the best choice and I now know how to make great choices in swapping things for better alternatives.

“Once I started to see the great effects of my weight loss and get comments from my friends and family I started to gain confidence which enabled me to continue with the weight loss and achieve other things in my life. My life is completely different.

“I took up running during my weight loss journey and have now completed two Great South runs and the Bournemouth marathon to raise funds for Dorset Action on Abuse.

“I would never have imagined doing this before I lost weight. I am now so confident I have completed a 15,000ft skydive, a 300ft bungee jump and abseiled down the spinnaker tower!”

Her consultant Karen Nisbet said Zoe was, “a huge inspiration”, adding: “she inspires each of us to be more active and have confidence in ourselves.”

Zoe said: “I can’t begin to tell you how much better I feel as a result of losing the weight. My life is completely different, I wouldn’t have been able to do half of the things I enjoy if I was still the size I was. I could only have dreamt back then I would be in a size 10 but that dream and so many others have come true, it does work.
