PLANS are well advanced in Poole for a town carnival next spring, the first in the town centre since 2002.

A dedicated group of residents has been working to restore the carnival, which will be held on Sunday, May 17, starting and finishing at Baiter Park.

The aim is to give local youth organisations a chance to dis-play their achievements, aid recruitment and raise funds for Julia’s House and the children’s ward at Poole Hospital.

So far, around four bands have signed up, several majorette groups, Scouts and cadet groups, sports clubs and schools have shown interest in joining the parade.

Before it heads off at 2pm there will be displays at Baiter from groups taking part, static displays, food stalls, rides and entertainment.

However, sponsors are being sought to contribute towards the costs of putting on the event and a Bond-themed gala night is being held at the RNLI on February 28 next year with gambling tables, photo booth, grand raffle and quiz.

Bookings are going quickly at £45 for a single ticket or £370 for a table of 10.

Anyone wishing to donate or sponsor the event can contact sponsorship co-ordinator Phil Coxall on 07919 566923 or philcoxall@mac.com For more information, go to pooleyouthcarnival2015
