FUMING motorists faced delays at Sandbanks earlier today after a temporary three-way traffic light system became stuck on red.
The signals, installed at Panorama Road, Poole, close to the parade of shops, suffered an apparent timing problem throughout the morning.
Exasperated drivers were forced to run the red lights on their own, until a council worker turned up to marshal traffic through the junction around 11.30am.
One driver said: “With the ferry out of service as well, I don’t know if this was a ploy to keep people out of Sandbanks or a ploy to keep them in.
“Either way, a lot of people had their time wasted sitting through a thoroughly pointless queue while they wondered why the lights were taking so long to change.
“I suppose these things do happen though, best take them on the chin.”
The temporary signals have been put in place, with several diversions and road closures implemented, while carriageway engineering works take place on the peninsula.
The Sandbanks Ferry is also currently out of service due to scheduled maintenance.
