FIVE arrests have been made following a suspected hit and run incident in Poole on Thursday.

Five men in their 20s from Avon and Somerset area have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm following the incident at Seaview Road, Parkstone around 10am on Thursday.

The victim, a 33-year-old Poole man, received hospital treatment for injuries to both legs after he was allegedly struck by a car then assaulted by several men at the Constitution Hill viewpoint car park.

Detective Sergeant Andy Roberts of Bournemouth CID said: “This happened in a busy area and we are urging people to come forward with any information particularly in relation to seeing a silver VW car, possibly either a Polo or a Golf, before or after the incident.”

Police have described the incident at “very serious” and focused a lot of police resources on it, scrambling the police helicopter in a bid to track the driver after they fled the scene. Police sectioned off an area of the car park on Thursday while crime scene investigators examined the area.
