THE ever changing face of Poole’s unique harbour is revealed in a photographic exhibition of 50 images.

This exhibition staged in the Top Floor Gallery at Lighthouse, follows the success of Poole Harbour Commissioners photographic competition, run with the Daily Echo in 2012 and this year.

Response to the competitions was significant and the commissioners felt that holding a display of people’s photos was an appropriate way to let the community see the many and varied entries.

Entitled The Diversity of Poole Harbour, the snaps capture all aspects of harbour life from boating, watersports and commercial port activities to wildlife and fishing.

Entries came from residents of all ages and highlight the delicate balance between nature and human activities, which PHC seeks to achieve through its day-to-day work. The harbour must be one of the most photographed beauty spots in Dorset and we know everyone locally will have a different perspective of it,” said Jim Stewart, PHC chief executive.

“As well as involving the community, this exhibition shows the different ways people enjoy Poole Harbour, from sailing to walking and of course through art and photography.

“We are grateful to everyone who took part in our competitions and feel that these photos show the balance between the humans and wildlife that all share this special area,” he added.

The exhibition is open every Tuesday to Saturday from 11am and will run until Saturday, November 15. Entry is free of charge. However the gallery may be closed at times for private events.
