A POOLE hospice’s poignant celebration of the lives of loved ones is returning to its scenic grounds overlooking the harbour this year.

After some years St Ashley Cross, Lewis-Manning, will be holding its Light Up a Life event at Evening Hill on Friday, November 28.

And for the first time there will be a candle lit walk from Sandbanks, along the harbour and up to the hospice for those who would like to participate.

The evening is a time of celebration and reflection to remember the life of a loved one by dedicating a light in their memory.

It is open to everyone, not just those whose loved ones were cared for at the hospice.

“We hope that as many people as possible will join us for this very special event – everyone is welcome,” said Maria Tidy, fundraising manager.

“But if you can’t make it you can still take part by making a donation in memory of someone. We will light a candle for them and enter their name in our book of remembrance.”

The ceremony will include singing, prayers, poems and readings.

A Christmas tree, donated by Continental Landscapes, will be illuminated during the service as a special way to remember loved ones and as a symbol of hope for the future.

Last year the tree at Ashley Cross was vandalised when lights were ripped from it.

The procession will leave Sandbanks at 6pm with walkers arriving for the service at 7pm. Candles and lanterns will be provided in return for a small donation. Entry is by donation and to dedicate a light in memory of a loved one download a form from lewis-manning.co.uk or call fundraising on 01202 701000.
