AN investigation has been launched after a boat collided with another vessel in Poole Harbour on Saturday morning.

Poole RNLI all-weather lifeboat was called to reports of the incident around 8.30am.

They were sent to Lake Pier and a volunteer found a 40ft motorboat had collided with a moored yacht and become entangled.

There was nobody on the vessels and both boats had suffered some damage.

The lifeboat crew boarded the boats and worked at parting the vessels and disentangling them.

The Poole lifeboat secured the vessel, attached a tow and brought it back to Poole Town Quay marina, where the owner of the motor boat and Poole Coastguards were waiting alongside.

Solent Coastguard then sent the inshore lifeboat to search the area to check if there was anything else untoward or any further damage to any other vessels in the vicinity.

The volunteer crew scoured the area off Lake Pier and the lifeboat carried out a thorough search of the area.

Coastguards and marine police are now investigating the incident.
