AN investigation into the criminal damage caused to the Daily Echo office in Poole last weekend has been shelved by Dorset Police.

The glass office door to the Dolphin Centre shop was targeted by a man who vaulted over railings from the George Roundabout and threw a lump of stone at the door, smashing it.

The crime which was captured on CCTV by Dolphin Centre security, took place at 11.50pm on Friday night. It showed a man who looks to have attempted to disguise his face with a scarf and worn a hoodie.

Dorset Police said in a letter to the Echo: “Following our investigation and having considered the evidence and information available at this stage, we have been unable to progress the case.

“The crime will now be filed, however there are occasions when the situation changes if new evidence comes to light.”

While the office was closed on Saturday while the door was boarded up, it has been open for business since Monday morning.
